Little Peoples’ Association Of Sri Lanka (Mihimith Community)

Little Peoples’ Association of Sri Lanka was formed with the participation of dwarf people island wide. This association was created to bring together the small people and disadvantaged communities live in Sri Lanka.

This association intervene to solve their problems by recruiting small people from all the divisional secretariats in Sri Lanka, minimizing the problems they face while living in the society, empowering them to protect their rights, directing and encouraging education liaising with social development organizations and government authorities.

Requirements of the project / Issues

Need assistance and support to the Mihimith community in the Colombo district and the disadvantaged community, poverty, depression, underdevelopment and social exclusion, health problems, lack of proper education and inequality, employment problems as far as possible, guidance and assistance.

Intervention is required here to obtain guidance.

Objectives of the project

Welfare of the Mihimith community and disadvantaged community in the Colombo district, protecting their rights and empowering them in to an economically active group.

Project introduction

Empowering the Mihimith community in the Colombo district and developing the social attitudes of the disadvantaged community, educating them, assisting in education.

Scope of social services

The people involved in this project have been recently identified as a disadvantages community as they are mentally disturbed due to their physical condition (small people and disadvantaged community) and they have problems such as lack of social rights. Giving them equal rights and empowerment is a part of the scope of social service has been identified. This subject belongs to the scope of social service because the common law of the state, the constitution and the universal declaration of the United Nations must protect and empower their rights, and that reconsideration of this group is within the scope of social service and that the lack of equal rights for certain sections of society is a social problem.

We look forward to the guidance, advice and active involvement of government officials, social development organizations and private institutions in Colombo district in moving towards the above objectives.

Target
  1. The Mihimith Community in the Colombo district as well as all the disadvantaged communities standing up individually or collectively to win rights.
  2. Providing dry rations for economic activation, identify the problems of this community may face in personal life, providing financial support and guidance.
  3. Improving the language and technical skills of members of the association. Implementation of a scholarship scheme for low income children and students of the association.
  4. Encouraging this community to build their attitudes physically and mentally strong.
